Class Descriptions
The following is a list of the classes that are offered at Monterey Yarn. Please contact Monterey Yarn at (920) 884-5258 for class prices and to sign up for a class. Click on the calendar button to the left to view when the classes are offered.
All-Season Throw: Knit a square each month. You'll learn to read patterns and have a beautiful afghan at the end. 1 session each month
Baby Sweater: Make this exquisite wrap-style baby sweater. This two session class helps with the many special techniques used to set this sweater apart from the rest. 2 sessions
Basic Cardigan: Learn the basics of garment knitting from swatching through finishing. Enjoy making a sweater that really fits by using a pattern customized especially for you! 5 sessions
Beginning Knitting 1: This class will teach you how to knit. You will learn how to cast-on stitches, knit, purl, and bind-off. Fee includes one pair of bamboo needles, "How to Knit" book, and yarn. 2 sessions
Beginning Knitting 2: This class will add to the skills learned in Beginner I. You will learn about yarn weights, needle information, gauge, increase & decreases, and correcting mistakes( such as twisted, dropped and ripping out stitches). 2 sessions
Circular Knitting: If you can knit a flat piece, then its time to knit a circle. You will learn the techniques of using circular and double-pointed needles, decreasing and tips that patterns don't tell you. You will make an easy and fun hat. This is the first step to knitting mittens, socks, and more hats. 2 sessions
Felted Bag: These bags are great fun to knit! Let your imagination go wild. You'll learn to pick up stitches around the bottom of the bag and make an I-cord. It will only take 2 hours! 1 session
Felted Bag II : Have you made the Felted Bag and now want to try and tackle the harder patterns, but not quite sure how to do it? This is the class for you! 1 session
Felted Clog Slippers: Knit these warm little beauties for everyone on your gift list and don’t forget yourself. Although not a difficult project, there are some quirky aspects involved that make it well suited for a three session class. The slippers wear like iron and have even been rumored to survive dorm life! 3 sessions
Finishing: The most beautiful knitting can't compensate for poor finishing. Learn to do professional looking seams, buttonholes, picking up stitches, blocking and more. 1 session
Liz's Felted Evening Bag: Make this small felted evening bag to match your own style. Adorn with an I-cord strap or matching ribbon for your own personal touch. 1 session
Mitten: Make these quick and easy chunky mittens in just a few hours. Experience knitting with double-pointed needles is necessary. Combine yarns to make them your own. 1 session
Monterey Shawl: Treat yourself to a full palette of beautiful colors that are knit up into a pleasing ruffled shawl that can be worn over just about anything. A special kit incorporating Malabrigo and Lambs’ Pride wools and small group instructions make this a project appropriate for beginning and experienced knitters alike. 2 sessions
Socks: Learn all of the techniques needed to knit these warm little beauties. Experience working with double-pointed needles is helpful, but not required. 3 sessions
Wrap Sweater: This versatile pattern allows you to make your garment four different ways using Chunky Alpaca, available in 11 different colors. This popular style is on display in the store. 2 sessions
